<h3>Sadaqah Jaariyyah: A Lasting Reward</h3>Sadaqah Jaariyyah, or ongoing charity, is one of the most powerful forms of giving in Islam, providing continuous rewards even after a person has passed away. Unlike a one-time act of charity, it benefits people for years to come, ensuring that the giver continues to earn rewards from Allah.The Prophet ﷺ said:"When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them." (Muslim)This means that even when we leave this world, the rewards of our charity can continue to benefit us in the hereafter.<h3>Qur’anic Promise of Multiplication</h3>Allah ﷻ emphasises the immense reward of charity in the Qur’an:"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] that sprouts seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261)This verse highlights that even a small act of charity can be multiplied many times over by Allah’s mercy.<h3>Examples from the Life of the Prophet ﷺ</h3>The Seerah (life of the Prophet ﷺ) is filled with examples of Sadaqah Jaariyyah.<ul><li>Wells of Madinah: When Uthman ibn Affan (RA) purchased the Well of Rumah to provide free water for the people, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever buys the Well of Rumah will have Paradise." (Bukhari) That well continues to provide water to this day!</li><li>Masjid An-Nabawi: The Prophet ﷺ himself participated in building Masjid An-Nabawi, a place of worship that has continued for over 1,400 years.
