This is Sadaqah Jariyah—a charity that keeps giving, even after we return to Allah. It’s one of the few deeds the Prophet ﷺ told us continues to benefit us in our grave:
“When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.”
(Muslim)
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (Sadaqah) for him.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
