<h3>Sadaqah Jaariyyah: A Lasting Reward</h3>Sadaqah Jaariyyah, or ongoing charity, is one of the most powerful forms of giving in Islam, providing continuous rewards even after a person has passed away. Unlike a one-time act of charity, it benefits people for years to come, ensuring that the giver continues to earn rewards from Allah.The Prophet ﷺ said:"When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them." (Muslim)This means that even when we leave this world, the rewards of our charity can continue to benefit us in the hereafter.<h3>Qur’anic Promise of Multiplication</h3>Allah ﷻ emphasises the immense reward of charity in the Qur’an:"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] that sprouts seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261)This verse highlights that even a small act of charity can be multiplied many times over by Allah’s mercy.<h3>Examples from the Life of the Prophet ﷺ</h3>The Seerah (life of the Prophet ﷺ) is filled with examples of Sadaqah Jaariyyah.<ul><li>Wells of Madinah: When Uthman ibn Affan (RA) purchased the Well of Rumah to provide free water for the people, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever buys the Well of Rumah will have Paradise." (Bukhari) That well continues to provide water to this day!</li><li>Masjid An-Nabawi: The Prophet ﷺ himself participated in building Masjid An-Nabawi, a place of worship that has continued for over 1,400 years. Sadaqah Jaariyyah on behalf of our mother, Jahanara Riaz Choudhury رَحِمَهَا اللَّهُ As a family, we have chosen to honour her by building a mosque as Sadaqah Jaariyah (ongoing charity) on her behalf, a source of continuous reward for her in the Hereafter On Friday 27th February on the 10th Ramadan our beloved mother, Jahanara, has returned to our Lord. May Allah forgive her shortcomings, expand her grave with light, and grant her the highest rank in Jannatul Firdous. Ameen Our mother bravely battled cancer for two years, undergoing multiple major operations and rounds of radiotherapy. Despite her strength and perseverance, the cancer was persistent and ultimately took her from us. Anyone who knew our mum personally knows how full of life she was, and how she was the glue that kept everyone together. We ask everyone to come together once more in her name. We hope to continue her legacy in the way she would have wanted by helping those in need and giving to others. Throughout her life, she loved giving charity and supporting people with whatever Allah had blessed her with. She never hesitated to share, even when she had very little herself. This mosque project reflects the generosity and compassion that defined her.
